Rug Hooking : Inspired by Nature

Inspiration for our work will be taken from the nature around the campus, using found items (leaves feathers etc) sketches and photographs. These will be brought back into the studio to create the design for a hand hooked rug or wall hanging.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned hookers, all skills required to make hand hooked rugs, including demonstration of how to deconstruct used garments for use, will be covered. Students are invited to bring used garments that will be taken apart and stripped up to include in their work and/or to share with class. Favored fabrics have a substantial portion of wool, ranging from 85-100%. All supplies will be provided for the class, those who have frames, hooks, and repurposed cloth to use and share are encouraged to bring them.
